Ali Browns flax weaving incorporates both contemporary and traditional techniques and draws on an extensive background of practical involvement in craftwork, particularly the fibre-weaving crafts. Ali tutors flax weaving through her own regular workshops as well as workshops in communities and school programmes and at art and craft events.
Ali has written a book that features original designs and arrangements.

This course is for beginners, Intermediate and refresher levels.
In this course students will learn to weave a simple two-conered flax basket or Kete, and with different techniques learn to weave a larger container. With these techniques you will then be able to weave a variety of beautiful items such as flowers and the popular koru. If you have some weaving experience you can extend your weaving skill by learning further techniques.
