Photomontage

Tutor : Sally Mason

Sally Mason is a popular and enthusiastic tutor who enjoys helping people extend their vision and their enjoyment of photography. She has been teaching the art of Photo montage for 12 years. She teaches both blended and advanced/abstract montage work, and creative play using prints.
In this course students will be taught the approaches to photomontage - how to use their photos to creat a visual story, blending them together in such as way that the finished artwork is ONE single piece of work, NOT a collection of prints.

  You will need to bring:
  1.  Sharp Scissors that you are comfortable using and cut smoothly.
  2.  A Green Grid Board A2 size – available from Warehouse Stationery (useful for ALL sorts of things, not just montage)
  3.  Bookbinders glue ( available from The Drawing Room) , or acid free glue, plus SMALL brush and paper towel.
  4.  Masking tape, LIGHT grade – for tacking photos together ( NOT green or blue).
  5.  Stanley knife, sharp – optional.
  6.  Straight edge – optional.
  7.  Ruler, pencil, rubber.
  8.  6B soft pencil.
  9.  BOARD FOR MOUNTING - I will have a selection of matte board - you can pay me for what you use.... which depends on the size of your finished montage.
  10.  ALBUM PAGES - I will have black A3 pages (@65c each) for those who want to montage in this form (a wonderful way to create montaged travel memories - see 21 jpg).
   PRINTS
6x4, MATT finish onto photographic paper [ best printed at a photo lab. Home printed images can be difficult to stick….. we tack on the surface with masking tape while arranging, and with some home printed images, the ink pulls off…]
You can bring several selections of prints – from different occasions… and we can select those that will be easiest for you to montage. Bring lots – better to have a range to choose from.
