I am a Nelson based artist and healing therapist. I love to work with my hands using texture and vibrant colours, even when I am painting you won`t find many brushes.
I work with a lot of rags and rollers etc.
For me art is a great balance.
I take great care to ensure my work is finished to a high standard, much love and intention goes into the design and making process.
I have won 2 awards with my work in the past and have exhibitions regularly. In 2010 I was the guest artist for Hunters Garden Melb.
You will be encouraged to have fun, to be free with your creativity. You will produce some unique pieces
that will be completely finished by the end of the weekend ready to take pride of place in your home.
You will learn how to prepare your base prior to applying textile pieces, tips on designing your piece, best way of breaking and glueing, how to mix grout plus much more.
I will demonstrate each stage, then share my time between everyone giving one to one advice and encouragement.
You will be able to choose to make either a mirror or wall plaque.
I will have various boards available but if you would like to make something bigger than that it will cost a little more.
If you would like to do a pot, terricota is the best to use. You must supply your own pot and have pre-sealed it,(acrylic paint is fine to seal it with), No larger than 300mm high.
Students Needs List :-
Hammer, Safety Glasses, 3 old t-shirts cut up for rags, 2 newspapers, wall tiles (not floor tiles),
2 Ice Cream containers with lids, pencil, pad, rubber, plate, crockery,
embellishments eg - glass beads, coloured stones.
Beads and stones etc available from $2.00 Shop, Spotlight, Warehouse & Bunnings.
Bunnings and Mitre10 have a good range of tiles, some from $1.00 each.
Please bring old clothes to work in, especially day 2, we will be grouting.
Material Costs to be paid to the Tutor :- $35.00
This covers the cost of a prepared board, sealed and ready to hang.
Glue, Grout, sponge, mirror, some embellishments.
I will have some tiles available that can be purchased at extra cost.
It would be best if students phone me on 027 634 8352. I can be more
exact with how many tiles you will need when I know what they would
like to make. A plaque requires more tiles than a mirror, and if using
crockery less tiles will be required.
